Amazon Bedrock credits are not a standalone program. They come from AWS Activate, whose Portfolio tier gives pre-Series B startups up to $200,000 in AWS credits that are redeemable on Bedrock, including third-party models from AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI and Stability AI. Self-funded founders with no VC or accelerator link get the Activate Founders tier instead, which starts at $1,000 and goes up to $5,000. AI startups that outgrow Portfolio can be invited into AWS Credits for AI Startups at $200,000 and above.

How to apply

5 steps
  1. Create an AWS Builder ID and an AWS account on a paid support tier plan (a free-tier account is not eligible).
  2. Open https://aws.amazon.com/startups/credits/ and click Apply now.
  3. Choose your tier: Activate Portfolio if a partnered VC, accelerator or incubator gives you their Activate organization ID, otherwise Activate Founders.
  4. Enter startup details (founding date, stage, funding) and link the AWS account ID that should receive the credits.
  5. Wait 5-10 business days for review, then redeem the credits and spend them on Amazon Bedrock model usage from the Bedrock console.
