Certified K-12 teachers in post; not for university students

Eligibility & conditions

Canva Education is Canva's free program for certified K-12 (primary and secondary) teachers who are currently teaching, and for accredited K-12 schools and districts. Verified teachers get Canva's premium features, including classroom AI tools, at no cost; for comparison, Canva Pro lists at US$144 a year for one person. K-12 students get access only when their teacher invites them, and college and university students, lecturers, tutors, parents and unlicensed homeschool educators are not eligible. Access lasts while you remain an eligible teacher, and Canva asks you to re-verify every 3 years.

How to apply

5 steps
  1. Open the Canva Education sign-up page and sign up with your school email address, or with your school or district's Google, Microsoft or Clever account.
  2. Follow the prompts, select that you are a Teacher, choose the type of school you teach at, and enter your name, country, school name, address and school website.
  3. If Canva recognizes your school email domain, you get access right away. If not, upload a photo or scan of a document showing your name, school name and teaching position, such as your teaching license, from the approved list in the eligibility guidelines. Canva says it reviews applications within 48 hours.
  4. Once verified, invite your K-12 students to your class from Settings so they get free access too. Teachers need parental consent for students under 13.
  5. Re-verify your teaching credentials when Canva asks, which happens every 3 years.
