Customer.io runs a Startup Program that gives eligible early-stage companies up to 12 months of its customer engagement platform free, including up to 30,000 customer profiles at no cost. The program covers Journeys, Data Pipelines, Messaging and the AI Agent. Eligibility is published: the business must have raised less than $10 million in total funding, must never have been a Customer.io customer, and contact lists must not be purchased. Customer.io does not publish a dollar value for the program; at the $100 per month Essentials entry price listed on its pricing page, 12 free months are worth at least $1,200, and more at 30,000 profiles.

How to apply
5 steps- Open https://customer.io/solutions/startups and check the three requirements: under $10 million raised in total funding, never been a Customer.io customer, and contact lists not purchased.
- Click Apply today on that page. It opens the startup signup route at https://fly.customer.io/signup?signupType=startup.
- Create the account through that startup link rather than the normal signup at fly.customer.io/signup, so the application is tagged to the program.
- Wait for Customer.io to review and confirm enrollment. Once enrolled, the free term starts and runs up to 12 months.
- Set a reminder around month 10. Customer.io sends graduation notices near the end of the term and the account then moves onto a paid plan.
