AWS Activate gives startups promotional AWS credits that also pay for xAI's Grok models on Amazon Bedrock (Grok 4.7, 4.6 and 4.3), which AWS sells directly, with Grok 4.7 from $2 per 1M input tokens and $6 per 1M output tokens. Self-funded startups start with $1,000 and select ones can reach $5,000, while startups backed by an AWS Activate Provider such as an accelerator, angel investor or VC can get up to $200,000 with that provider's Org ID. You need a pre-Series B company founded in the last 10 years, a working company website and an AWS account on the Paid Tier plan, and Portfolio applicants must apply within 12 months of their latest funding round. The credits are run by AWS, not xAI, apply automatically to all eligible AWS charges rather than only Grok, usually expire within one to two years, and any usage beyond them is billed to your card.

How to apply
5 steps- Open the AWS Activate credits page and select Apply now.
- Create an AWS Builder ID with your professional email, or sign in with an existing one, and complete your profile.
- Choose Activate Founders if you are self-funded, or Activate Portfolio if your accelerator, angel investor or VC is an Activate Provider, and enter the Org ID they give you.
- Add your product, funding stage and company details, link an AWS account on the Paid Tier plan, and submit. AWS says you will hear back within 5 to 10 business days.
- Once the credits appear in AWS Billing, call Grok 4.7 in Amazon Bedrock with the inference ID global.xai.grok-4.7 or us.xai.grok-4.7, since the model has no in-Region endpoint.
