Google Cloud says startups in the Scale and Scale AI tiers of the Google for Startups Cloud Program may receive $10,000 in credits for partner models in Model Garden, which include Mistral AI's managed models such as Mistral Medium 3, Mistral Small 3.1, Codestral 2 and Mistral OCR. Regular Google startup credits cannot be spent on third-party Model Garden products, so this credit is the Google route to paying for Mistral models. The $10,000 is one pool shared with Anthropic and AI21 models, the Scale tiers need verifiable pre-seed to Series A venture funding and a company founded within the last 3 to 5 years, and Google may ask you to request the credit from your Google Cloud account executive.

How to apply
5 steps- Read the partner-model credit note in the FAQ on Google's Startup Perks page.
- Apply to the Google for Startups Cloud Program and get placed in the Scale or Scale AI tier, which needs verifiable pre-seed to Series A venture funding and a business email on your company's website domain.
- Confirm your tier in your Cloud billing console, where Scale members see active credits named GFS Cloud Program - Scale or GFS Cloud Program - AI, as Google's partner models perk sheet explains.
- Look for the $10,000 partner-model credit in the console, and if it is not there, contact your Google Cloud account executive and ask for it.
- Enable the Mistral models you need, such as Mistral Medium 3 or Codestral 2, from their Model Garden cards, keeping in mind that Anthropic and AI21 usage draws on the same credit.
