Speechmatics runs a startup program giving up to $50,000 in usage credits, spendable across its batch, real-time, text-to-speech and on-premise speech-to-text APIs. Credits activate immediately on approval and come with an onboarding session with a Solutions Engineer, monthly office hours with the engineering team, a priority Slack support channel and beta access to new features. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with a stated response target of a few days, but Speechmatics caps each cohort at 20 startups and runs a 30-minute call before deciding. Startups that finish the program are offered discounted enterprise pricing.

How to apply

5 steps
  1. Check you meet all five stated criteria before applying: raised under $10 million total, a functional MVP in production or a committed launch within 1-2 months, not currently on a paid Speechmatics enterprise plan, an active development team, and a defined ASR use case. If you have raised more than $10M, Speechmatics says to apply anyway and explain your circumstances.
  2. Go to https://www.speechmatics.com/startup-program and scroll to the application form on that page. There is no separate portal.
  3. Fill in first name, last name, work email, job title, phone, your LinkedIn URL, and a description of your product, team and speech use case. State your ASR use case specifically, since the page says they screen on defined use cases and product-market fit potential.
  4. Submit and wait. Review is rolling and the page says they aim to respond within a few days. Each cohort is capped at 20 startups, so a slow reply can mean the cohort is full rather than a rejection.
  5. Take the mandatory 30-minute call with their team, which happens before any decision. On approval, credits activate immediately across batch, real-time, text-to-speech and on-prem. If you are applying on behalf of an accelerator or VC portfolio rather than one company, email [email protected] instead to arrange batch applications or special terms.
