You.com runs a rolling startup grant that gives up to $1,000 in API credits usable across its Web Search, Contents and Research APIs. Approved startups also get elevated rate limits above the free-tier defaults, priority onboarding with dedicated support, and a shared Slack channel through the Developer Exchange. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the page states most decisions come within 48 hours, but the credits expire six months after they are granted. This sits on top of the $100 in complimentary credits every new API account gets without a card, so the grant is additional budget rather than a renamed free tier.

How to apply

5 steps
  1. Check the eligibility list on https://you.com/startup-grant before you spend time on the form. You need fewer than 25 employees at the time of applying, a stage between pre-seed and Series A, an AI-native product or LLM/agent workflow, and a genuine need for real-time web search, content retrieval or deep research.
  2. Create a free You.com API account at https://api.you.com if you do not have one. New accounts start with $100 in complimentary credits and no credit card is required, so you can test the Web Search, Contents and Research APIs before you apply.
  3. Scroll to the Apply Now form on the grant page and fill it in. It takes under 2 minutes. Use your company domain email, because personal addresses such as gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com and icloud.com are treated as unqualified.
  4. If you are in the YC, Techstars, NVIDIA Inception, AI Grant, Georgian or Radical Ventures portfolio, state that in the form. The page says those companies get priority review.
  5. Wait for the decision, which the page says usually lands within 48 hours. On approval you receive an elevated API key and an invite to the Developer Exchange. Start spending immediately, because the credits expire in six months.
